Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences invites you to join us for a free teacher training! Saturday, December 4, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences is holding a free training for Maine high school teachers interested in teaching their students ocean science concepts. During the daylong workshop teachers will be introduced to ocean sciences research at Bigelow, conduct hands-on, standards-based activities, and talk with Bigelow scientists and educators about how to best integrate ocean sciences into the existing curriculum. Our goals for this training are to present an overview of ocean sciences concepts and related investigative activities for students, and receive input from teachers to help us design a 4-day follow-up training. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Each participant will receive take-home materials, a travel reimbursement, and lunch. All participants will be invited to participate in the second workshop, which will be held in August 2011.
