Ocean Literacy

CTSG offers a variety of programs, products, workshops and activities to educate people of all ages. People utilize Sea Grant expertise in translating natural and social sciences to people of a variety of ages and backgrounds. Our programs/products are ever-changing and designed to meet the needs of our stakeholders, and we do not have a physical building (e.g., nature center, aquarium) where people come to visit or brochure of programs for people to select. However, we do specifically focus on Ocean and Climate literacy principles in developing our EDUCATION programs and products, including the National Ocean Sciences Bowl regional competition for CT/RI, Long Island Sound Mentor Teacher Program, educator professional development, conference presentations, and co-writing Connecticut’s Environmental Literacy Plan. Specific products aligned with OL principles include the Long Island Sound Curricular Resource Guide and LIS Education Resources CD ROM.

Ocean Observing

CTSG uses data from ocean observing websites in their professional development for educators.
