Professional Development: Long Island Sound Curriculum – Connecticut Teachers

Integrate Long Island Sound into Your Curriculum!  Sponsored by Connecticut Sea Grant and Long Island Sound Study,  Saturday, September 25, 2010, 8am-3pm Hammonasset State Park, Madison, CT  CT teachers (grades 7-12) spend “a day at the beach” with Long Island Sound Mentor Teachers Ken Fusco and Leanne Nolan at Hammonasset State Park. Learn how to engage students in the exploration of a unique, natural area while still covering the science standards. Meet State Standards: SCIENTIFIC INQUIRY, 9.7 – Elements on Earth move among reservoirs in the solid earth, oceans, atmosphere and organisms as part of biogeochemical cycles, 10.2 – Microorganisms have an essential role in life processes and cycles on Earth, 10.5 – Evolution and biodiversity are the result of genetic changes that occur over time in constantly changing environments.
