Job Opportunity – Marine Education Internship, Florida

The Smithsonian Marine Ecosystems Exhibit in Fort Pierce, Florida is located on the Indian River Lagoon (IRL), the most diverse estuary in the U.S., and less than one mile from the Atlantic Ocean. This unique educational facility provides a window into these underwater worlds, offering a variety of hands-on experiences to daily visitors, as well as programming opportunities.  The responsibilities of the Education Intern are to interpret to visitors in the gallery and at the touch tank, lead educational programs for school and community groups, assist with special events, and create educational displays. The education intern may also assist aquarium husbandry staff with routine duties, such as tank monitoring, feedings and specimen collection, as needed. Additional objectives can be developed with education staff based on intern’s personal interests, strengths and/or experience.

Experience working in an informal education setting (preferred) and/or coursework in science education, a demonstrated ability in effectively communicating with others, a strong interest in marine science, and a willingness/ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including weekends and some holidays. Must be currently enrolled in college courses or a recent (within past 6 months) graduate.

Sea Rovers Annual Summer Internship

The Boston Sea Rovers are currently accepting applications for the 2011 Frank Scalli Annual Summer Internship.  Qualified graduating high school seniors and college freshman interested in pursuing underwater careers are encouraged to apply to the Sea Rovers by October 31, 2010. Immediately following graduation or the spring semester, the 2011 scholar will intern with members of the Boston Sea Rovers and associates located throughout the United States to experience a wide variety of jobs and career choices.  Based in part on the personal interests of the scholar, the Internship will provide advanced dive training courses and ample opportunities to dive and train with a variety of dive professionals in a broad cross section of diving environments.  Opportunities will include hands-on work with professional underwater photographers and filmmakers, educational specialists, marine engineers and scientists, equipment manufacturer’s representatives, and dive shop owners. Internship – Summer in Maine

Internship – Wells Research Reserve, NH

Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve seeks an Environmental Education Camp Assistant to assist in facilitating a series of half-day and full-day environmental education programs for children ages 6-9, weeklong sessions of Junior Researchers summer day camps for ages 9-12, and half-day camp sessions for ages 4-5. Internship – Marine Education, FL
